Hey! Ok so I finished the book last night and it is very interesting. I think it is a good book with an awesome twist because who would suspect Suzanne to be a spy!? Its really sad when Dr.Leclerc dies though. Suzanne must feel horrible, because she broke that promise to him! When Suzanne was captured, I was really scared that she would die. I didn't really get how she escaped- but I'm glad she did! What do you guys think?
Yes, Marie that is a great point! I think she escaped because the Nazi's had to go and fight the war, because Pearl Harbor was happening. I am glad she escaped though- and yes. I am very sad to see him die, but its what the Gemrmans had to do. I also was very happy that the war was over at the end! I thought it was a good ending
hey guys! I think that its a good book. I think that the lesson learned is a great theme. I mean.. generousity is a great thing to have. The ending is sweet and that he names his granddaughter's middle name after Janina. I wonder what would have happened in Janina didn't die and she and Misha moved to America? I kinda know that they would have got married. Well... we all do . But why was Misha so depressed??? Why had he thought that he had only been in there for one day? And where did Uri go?? Well anyway I think that this was a good book i enjoyed it!
Hey so i finished the book and i thought it was really sad! Misha went into hiding for three years but the war ended long before he came out of hiding. Then he traveled to America and got married to a woman who left him with a baby in her. About 20 years later, Misha's daughter finally met him and he moved in with her. She gave Misha the honor of giving her daughter a middle name. He chose the name Jenina after the sweet Jew he met.
Emma, Misha was depressed because he lived in a hay house for three years and decided he wanted to die. He thought he would be found sooner or later and just thought he should die sooner.
I think that this book wraps up greatly. I love how it ends with him living happily ever after with his daughter he didnt no about and his granddaughter. He named his granddaughter after Janina, which I think was such a nice gesture. The end is also confusing for Misha when he realized the war had been over for 3 years. It must've been depressing for him because now there was nothing he could think of to do to find Janina again.
I think it was sad how Misha thought he would be found. So he left the house to turn himself in. I would never do that. I would want to live as long as possible.
ya i agree with you Mattie its has a great ending and shows you that even if you have gone through this much in life it can still come together in the end, when you have family! Oh and thank you MAtthew you awnsered my question
I think it was like a 4.............I learned a lot through this book about the War, but I was very confused a lot in this book. I also felt really bad for all the people being tortured by the Jackboots which made me sad, and not enjoy it as much. :/
I would probably give it a 7 or 8 because I enjoyed enough, but it definatly wasn't my favorite book that I've ever read. Theb story line and the plot was good.
I would change the ending. I think it was bad enough that Misha lost his best friend (Jenina)he shoulodn't have lost his wife. I also think he shouldn't have lost Jenina.
If I could change one part of the book I'd make it so Janina and Misha went to America together, both alive. I know this would've had a really slim chance of happening because of all the deaths during this war.
I enjoyed blogging with other people who had my book for many reasons. It answered lots of my questions, and helped me comprehend and enjoy the book more. I also got to see others opinions on the story line. All togehter I liked blogging about the book.(:
Each week, you will be required to respond to the section of reading you have completed. Include questions, reactions, favorite parts, etc. You then must respond to what each of your other lit circle members wrote as well. Be sure to provide possible answers to your team members’ questions. Ask them questions about their reactions to the reading. Have fun!
Example Response
John Smith: Wow! I am so interested in this book. Could you imagine being orphaned at our age and having to be able to survive on our own? Crispin has no other relatives to take him in, and it sounds like he is not very accepted in his village. I wonder why John Aycliff is after him? Life was so different during this time period. People could be killed for doing what we consider very minor things. Life sure was difficult. I am curious to know what you guys think about this book. Do you think Crispin will stay in Stromford or run away? How will he escape John Aycliff?
BLOG #3 DISCUSSION IDEAS
Discuss the injustices that occur in your book(s). Provide specific examples and your reaction.
Knowing what we do now about the Holocaust and the murder of over 6,000,000 Jewish people, how do you feel knowing that there are genocides still going on today? It is estimated that anywhere between 200,000- 400,000 civilians have been killed in Darfur since 2003. What does this say about our civilization that events like this still occur? What can we do to help prevent this type of situation from occurring?

Yeah, it was really sad!
I think that I would make him and all of the other friends be Jews and may not have Janina be a jew.
