I think that so far, this book has been very exiting. I wonder what will happen to Erik, Oskar, and Jakob in the end. It's too bad that Hals had to die, I liked him. Do you think that the Russian artillary fires will kill Erik and his freinds eventually? I do, or I at least think it will kill one of them.
This is a really high paced action book. There is a lot of blood and gore. I can't imagine how it would be to be chosen to go to war as a 16 year old, can you? The house they have to live in is terrible along with what they eat. Everyday they get up early and have to risk their lives. How would you feel about this?
This book is intense! It has a lot of action and has a good story. There is a lot of gore and blood. It would be horrible to be X and go through what he has to go through. He has to leave his house and go to war thinking he will be an interpreter and ends up on the front lines fighting the Russians! How would you deal with this?
I think that at the beggining it would be kin of cool to be in the war. Although, after the first day, when you start to see people dieing, and your freinds getting killed, I wouldn't want to be in that war for a long period of time.
I personally think the book is very exciting with tons of action. From dodging planes to throwing gernades into piles of soldiers. This book is definetly interesting but has that errie feeling of realism. Like how it paints a mental picture full of death. Plus there are a few questions I have about the book. Like why the main character just went into the war without even knowing what it was about? Or how the veterans still go into the fight that ruined their live?
Lukas, it's "grenades". But thats ok. I spelled kind wrong. I think that the veterens still go into fight because they have nothing better to do. They probably find it exiting and don't have jobs.
Would you change clothes a bloody dead guy to survive when the russians stab all the dead german bodies to make sure their dead, or would you keep on playing dead and hope you survive?
Each week, you will be required to respond to the section of reading you have completed. Include questions, reactions, favorite parts, etc. You then must respond to what each of your other lit circle members wrote as well. Be sure to provide possible answers to your team members’ questions. Ask them questions about their reactions to the reading. Have fun!
Example Response
John Smith: Wow! I am so interested in this book. Could you imagine being orphaned at our age and having to be able to survive on our own? Crispin has no other relatives to take him in, and it sounds like he is not very accepted in his village. I wonder why John Aycliff is after him? Life was so different during this time period. People could be killed for doing what we consider very minor things. Life sure was difficult. I am curious to know what you guys think about this book. Do you think Crispin will stay in Stromford or run away? How will he escape John Aycliff?
BLOG #3 DISCUSSION IDEAS
Discuss the injustices that occur in your book(s). Provide specific examples and your reaction.
Knowing what we do now about the Holocaust and the murder of over 6,000,000 Jewish people, how do you feel knowing that there are genocides still going on today? It is estimated that anywhere between 200,000- 400,000 civilians have been killed in Darfur since 2003. What does this say about our civilization that events like this still occur? What can we do to help prevent this type of situation from occurring?

I think at least one or two of X's friends will die and it was funny when rosy cheeks died.
It suprised me when when Willi said "My hand hurts." that was funny, and sad.
he asked way too many questions!!@!!!!
It was weird how they had to eat rats that were living inside their walls I think thats kinda gross
I think that X could get very badly injured and that is one reason i wouldn't want to be in the war.
