Hitler partly suceeced in his goal of controling the world. He took control of most of the Jewish religion. Suzanne first hears about this happening when her Uncles' who live in Paris tell her that their Jewish neighbors were taken away by the Nazis. The Germans' also took away a taxi driver that lives in Cherbourg who was not Jewish but was black. Hitler however did not suceed in controling the world because the Allies were able to stop him in the D-Day invasion. Suzanne helped to make this happen by carrying messages to other spies to plan this invasion. She was also rescued from the German soldiers when the invasion happened. What do you think the world would be like if Hitler stayed in control? Would the Allies have taken over at a later date?

When people had to "swim against the current" i think it meant that if they wanted to stand up for what they belived in then they would be risking their life doing so. Now a days, if you want to do something, then their is nothing in your way, to stop you, but back then if you wanted to do something it depended on what religion you were, what you looked like, what language you spoke, etc. people had to stand up for themselves just to be able to go to work, or go shopping, because of the danger they were in if they got caught(danger being sent to a concentration camp and probably dieing)! What do you think? Do you think that it is true? What do you think "swim against the current means?

Dr. Leclerc was killed in the end of For Freedom, but how? Did someone turn him in? Suzanne was captured by the Nazis and questioned and they searched her from head to toe. Honestly, if you were her and they told you that it would be okay if you told them the truth,(they did) would you tell them that you were a spy. I thought that. I think that the author did a great job explaining Yvette's part in the story, but what about Etienne and her family? How were they crucial to the storyline? I think that Yvette will someday realize that she has to get over the past and start talking again. I just think that Yvette is too nice, and caring to let Suzanne leave (in the end) without saying anything.

Kyra,I think, that if Hitler had been able to stay in control, then he would have been 10 times more powerful! Thus meaning that it would be even harder to overtake him, not to mention how many people could have died! I'm not sure if the Allis would have been able to overtake him again-scary thought huh?

Today we are not as forced by religion to do certain things, but in some countries they are. Many developing countries and countries ruled by a dictator force the people to do certain things like Hitler did. But those people start to rebel against the government, like the Allies did against Hitler. Today there are still dictators, but they only rule their own country.

The world would not be as peaceful and as fair as it is today if Hitler stayed the dictator. I think that Hitler was just pretty confused, he did a bad things and I think he realized that he did something "not so good" after World War 2. Suzanne definetly played a big part in helping the allies. That was very brave of her. If you got put in a situation where your Dr. asked you to carry messages from spy to spy, would you do it? Would you risk your life every waking moment to stay loyal to your country?

Morgan:
I completely agree with you. I think that Hitler would've just gained power over Europe, maybe even taking over other countries! Who knows.

Anna, I think that Dr. Leclerc died because his radio transmitions had finaly gotten intercepted! It even said in the book that the Dr. was lucky to have stayed hidden all that time! Still, i did NOT think it wwas right to kill all of his family too! His family might not have even known what he was doing! And to kill them in the street!? I thought that was horrible!

Suzzane has to find times and clever was to help the french, and she also risked getting caught and killed, but she still kept on standing up for what she belived in. Also the man who wore th RAF band wore it and got away with it and a clever way. Evern though the german soilders did not know what it meant, the french citizens knew he was showing his patriotisim and standing up for his country. In this book it shows some thngs he did, because he had control of most people. He moved many out of there homes including Suzzane. In the book it also mentions a few people dissapearing like the African American taxi driver.

Clare: Are you there? I haven't heard anything from you yet. I have a question for you? Do you think if your doctor asked you to be a spy, would you?

Anna, I think that Suzanne's family played a part in the story by always wondering where Suzanne was. They never found out that she was a spy until after the D-Day invasion, but they were questioning her. Suzanne barely got out of the house one day to deliver a message. If she wouldn't have gone would the invasion still have been successful?

All in all...
I really liked this book

Anna, i agree with you completly! Yvvete should get over it! I would probably tell the Nazis that i am a spy but it depends on if they were really convincing, which, in the story, i didn't think that the Nazis were very convincing at all!
